Farscape's Goose Game
HISTORY
The first mention of the Game of the Goose comes from Francesco dei Medici, Grand Duke of Florence in Italy from 1574 to 1587. He sent a copy to King Philip II of Spain where it caused great excitement at the court, and the game spread rapidly to other parts of Europe. The first game were in the shape of a spiral and had 63 squares. All squares were hightly decorated and the drawings were telling the rules of the game to advance or go back. The first printed games were introduced in England in the 17th century and since then, the game has illustrated many different stories, from politics to Don Quixote, Greek fables to comic books modern heros... and now Farscape.
INSTRUCTIONS
Click on EACH of the 4 images BELOW of the same character, to see them in full size. and save them to your computer or print them directly, on thin cardboard.
Glue or tape the 4 pages together, on the reverse side, to form a board.
The goal of the game is to get first to the last square. To play, each player must have a counter of a different colour to place on the board, and the game needs two ordinary 6-sided dice.
If a counter arrives in a square with the 2 dice, the player must roll again and move forward.
If the counter falls in a square with an arrow pointing backwards, the player must return from where he started this turn.
If the counter falls in a square with an arrow pointing forward, the player must advance again with the same number he rolled.
If the counter falls in a square with a raised hand, the player looses the next 2 turns, unless another player falls in the same square in the next turn and frees him.
If a counter stops at square #15, the player wins a prize (the medal) and goes to square #18 to collect his prize money.
The player who gets first to the last square (#58) wins, but if he rolls too much, he must go back with his counter the same number of squares he rolled over.
